The Whitaker family had a blank slate behind their home - just open ground with no real reason to go outside and hang out. That's a pretty common situation, especially with newer builds where the builder hands you a house and leaves the backyard entirely up to you. We came in with a full plan and got to work.

The centerpiece of this whole setup is the paver patio with a built-in circular fire pit and curved seat walls on either side. The seat walls aren't just decorative - they give people a natural place to sit around the fire without dragging chairs all over the patio. The paver pattern ties everything together and gives the space a clean, finished feel that holds up for the long haul.

We also handled the full landscape installation around the perimeter. Fresh plantings, dark mulch beds along the house, a creek bed with decorative rock for drainage and visual interest, and a row of trees and evergreens along the back property line for privacy. That back row is going to fill in nicely over time and really separate the yard from the neighbors.

Then there's the lighting. This is one of those things that a lot of people don't think about until they see it done right. Bollard lights along the patio edge, accent lights tucked into the landscape beds, and wall lights built right into the seat walls - it makes the whole space completely usable after dark. The fire pit looks great in the daytime, but at night it's a totally different level.

Big shoutout to the Whitaker family for trusting us with the project and to Nick at Tannenbaum Services and Concrete for the referral. This is exactly the kind of full-scope job we love - patio, seat walls, fire pit, plantings, mulch, decorative rock, creek bed, and lighting all in one cohesive build. Burlington KY keeps us busy and we're glad to keep showing up for it.
