Full Landscape Overhaul in Union KY with Stone and Black Mulch

Here's what we were working with before we got started - overgrown shrubs crowding the foundation, a side yard area that was bare and patchy, and a front bed that had clearly run its course. The plants were tired, the layout wasn't doing the property any favors, and there was no real flow or structure to pull things together. It's the kind of yard that just needs a full reset.

We started with brush and shrub removal to clear everything out and give us a clean slate. That's actually one of the most important steps - you can't build a good design on top of a mess. Once we had the space cleared, we laid out a new landscape plan that worked with the shape of the property and gave each area a purpose.

For the front, we installed a new landscape bed with fresh plantings, a natural stone wall to anchor the space, and a flagstone walkway that guides you from the driveway to the side of the home. The flagstone pieces are set right into fresh black mulch, which creates a sharp contrast and makes every element pop. Black mulch does a lot of heavy lifting in a design like this - it makes the plants stand out, suppresses weeds, and holds moisture well through the warmer months.

Around back and along the side of the house, we added new shrubs along the foundation line and finished everything with the same deep black mulch. The result is clean, uniform, and low-maintenance. Every bed has crisp edges, the plantings have room to grow, and the whole property finally looks like it was designed with intention rather than just added onto over the years.
